Minister Fleming extends Congratulations to Newly Elected CM
of Montserrat - Hon. Reuben Meade

(The Valley, Anguilla) - The Hon. Osbourne Fleming
Chief Minister of Anguilla, on Thursday September 10,
extended congratulations to the newly elected Chief Minister
of Montserrat, the Hon. Reuben Meade and his Government on
their "resounding victory at this week’s general elections
in Montserrat".
Fleming's letter to Meade continued:
"Your return to the reigns of leadership
after some 13 years is a demonstration of the overwhelming
demand and desire for a new direction in the governance of
this British Overseas Territory.
"There are many challenges facing our
territories, chief among them the effects of the global
financial crisis on our fragile economies. I therefore look
forward to your support along with the other leaders of the
British Overseas Territories as we meet to discuss these and
other issues in London at the end of the year.
"Please therefore accept my best wishes
for the future, and all prosperity and success to your
administration and may God continue to bless you and the
people of Montserrat."
Reuben Meade, 55, who led the Government of Montserrat from
1991 to 1996, brought his Movement for Change and Prosperity
Party (MCPR) back to power in general elections this week.
won six of the nine seats in the House
of Assembly, with the remainder going to three independent
candidates, including outgoing Chief Minister Dr. Lowell
Lewis, who has led a coalition Government since 2006.
