2008 starts badly for Trinidad.
February 1, 2008: Trinidad and Tobago has ended the
first month of 2008 with the ominous record of the bloodiest
January in the country's history. The 41 murders registered
during the month, surpassed the previous record of 38 in
2006.
Perhaps more troubling is that, it all comes on the heels of
2007 - the bloodiest year in the country's history, itself
starting out with 28 murders over the first 31 days.
The latest murder victim in the country is an 18 year old
young man shot 22 times by gunmen shouting "SOMEBODY have to
dead tonight,".
